Jane Best is the beautiful young publisher of a New York based women's magazine that specializes in true adventure stories. She is enticed to the jungles of South America by an intriguing letter describing a mysterious jungle man living deep within the last vast area of unexplored rainforest. Little does Jane know that she is about to become an integral part of his bizarre existence. On Jane's initial reconnaissance flight to the jungle she crashes and soon finds herself alone and stranded, far-removed from the concrete and asphalt jungle to which she is so accustomed. Of course, she is rescued by the very man she pursues, and soon discovers that he is quite mad. He confesses to her that he was chosen to weed out the poisonous snakes from "The Garden of Eden". He seems harmless enough and Jane has no choice but to humor him, for she needs his protection to survive the rigors of the jungle. She finds it a fast pace as she tries to follow his race to keep some vague appointment with the full moon. The flashes of his long knife have her hopping and skipping as she tries to avoid the twisting, contorted bodies of the headless snakes left in his wake. In time, the jungle man reveals the story of his ordeals in the deep mud pits of a North Vietnamese prison camp and how he made his way from that jungle to this one. He tells her of his loneliness and how his prayers for someone to share his life have been answered. "You were sent to me," he confesses to her. The ever-present dangers of the jungle are amplified by a troop of villains sent to find the jungle man's secret source of gold and rough gemstones that he deposits in the bank. Together, Jane and the jungle man meet the perils set before them. When they are captured, they have only their wits and the bonds that they've established to see them through.

Terry L. TenBroek's novel Jane's Story is not only suspenseful and full of action, it is also a romantic love story. Jane is a high powered professional journalist who went to the jungle to interview a mysterious and wealthy man who lives like, well, Tarzan. Instead of having a nice sit down with the man, she finds herself lost in the rain forest, under attack by murderous strangers, and under the protection of the quiet, powerful jungle man. During the course of the story, we learn who the jungle man is, the unusual way he became wealthy, and the more surprising way he spends his money. The plot twists constantly put Jane and the jungle man in danger from their stalkers. The suspense is masterful, so much so, that I couldn't put the book down. I can't wait to read Mr. TenBroek's next book.Product details
